101!

So, I was unaware of this until I looked at my stats today. I have written 101 posts, varying in nature, and all about books, books, BOOKS! This project has grown so much, and it’s great to see this. Keep coming back for more; after all, we can only go up from here. Look out for another author interview on June first, and another by July. Don’t forget about all the other stuff that goes on weekly. Thanks for coming, and here is the starter for another 101 posts!

Quote Day

“In each of us lie good and bad, light and dark, art and pain, choice and regret, cruelty and sacrifice. We’re each of us our own chiaroscuro, our own bit of illusion fighting to emerge into something solid, something real. We’ve got to forgive ourselves that. I must remember to forgive myself. Because there is a lot of grey to work with. No one can live in the light all the time.”

Emma’s Party

A little thing just to let whoever has stumbled across this website know that I am currently in the works of writing a novel. I am always trying to work on it, and have had a few offers for it to be published, but I am just trying to figure out what I will do with it at this moment.

Three Hills is a pretty normal small town in rural Alberta. Especially the high school girls, like Emma and Geneva, two popular grade tens who love life, friendship, and  being best friends. Life is great for both of them, especially Emma, the princess of the school, queen of dance and goddess to all of the male specimens. And Geneva is always by her side.

That changes when a new girl is thrust into the school. She is quiet, mousey and not all that pretty. However, under her timid shell hides a mystery so compelling that Geneva feels the need to help the girl that has strayed into Emma’s territory. Fireworks result of Geneva’s decision, on all sides, until a tragedy forces fate’s hand.

What do you do when life, love, and the bond between friends is questionable? What do you do when you arrive at Emma’s Party?

Mission Re-Read The Book Shelf: Series Reading

A few days ago, I looked at my book-shelf and decided that perhaps I could re-read some of the books sitting on the shelf. So, all this month we can depend on the fact that I will be reading anything from young-adult fiction that I last read in grade seven, or adult fiction that the last I read it was anywhere from two summers ago to a few months ago.

So I assigned myself a mission; re-read the book shelf. While this could be interesting, because I could end up reading books that I absolutely loved in elementary and jr high, I am also going to be reading books that I have no idea if I will be able to like.

First part mission on the list? Series.

We are going to start with a YA series by Tamara Pierce. What a better thing to do than start with where it all began: ‘Alanna, The First Adventure’. The last time I read this book was in grade seven, when I went through a Tamara Pierce phase. So, while I still remember the story lines, they are not fresh. So the novels I will be reading over the next week will be ‘Alanna; The First Adventure’, ‘In The Hand Of The Goddess’, ‘The Woman Who Rides Like a Man’, and ‘Lioness Rampant’.

I will admit that I am excited to finnally go through my book shelf again, and enjoy all the YA books I used to love. It has been so long since I have read half of them, that I am not even familiar with the names anymore. Good. Because that means it will be like reading it for the first time all over again.

Eventually, I will make it to the adult shelf, which will be pretty good, but, for now, whoever is reading this will have to put up with YA books for a while. Don’t fret through; I will continue to read adult books too so that my maturity level does not go through the floor and I can retain my sanity.
